About Lodwick Point

Lodwick Point is one of the most scenic viewpoints in Mahabaleshwar, offering breathtaking panoramic views of lush green valleys, dense forests, and the magnificent Pratapgad Fort in the distance. Located at around 1,240 metres above sea level, this peaceful destination is perfect for photography, sightseeing, nature walks, and enjoying the cool mountain breeze.

History & Heritage

Originally known as Sydney Point, Lodwick Point was renamed in honour of General Peter Lodwick, one of the first British officers to climb the Mahabaleshwar hills in 1824. To commemorate his achievement, his son erected a 25-foot memorial column at the viewpoint, which remains one of its most recognizable landmarks today.
